Sevilla Slams “Inappropriate” Fan Behaviour
Sevilla have called for La Liga to take action against a spectator who inappropriately touched the backside of winger Lucas Ocampos during their match against Rayo Vallecano.
The two Spanish teams went head-to-head on Monday, 5 January, at Estadio de Vallecas in Madrid, Spain, with visitors Sevilla walking away with a 2-1 victory over their hosts.
However, what should have been a cheerful occasion was otherwise marred by the actions of one handsy fan who took the opportunity to grab Ocampos’s hind end as he squared up to take a throw-in at the 33rd-minute mark.
The 29-year-old Argentina international immediately halted the proceedings and confronted the Rayo Vallecano supporter, before he called the referee over to handle the matter.
During the post-match press conference, Ocampos was clear that he didn’t want the incident swept under the rug and stated that he hoped La Liga will take it “as seriously as it takes racism”.
The following day, Sevilla shared an official statement on the matter via their website, saying that “the club transmits its maximum support” to their trusted player, before going on to add that they hope “the appropriate measures stipulated in the regulations will be taken.”
